Most of us today use emails to communicate – receiving (or sending) hundreds of emails each day. However, many emails are unanswered or remain unopened in our mailbox for days! One way to prevent this is by strengthening our Subject Lines – here’s how to do it
- DESCRIBE YOUR EMAIL Make it descriptive – instead of [Report] consider [Training Report | Presentation Skills Workshop | Singapore, 21-22 Aug 2019]. You get the point.
- ACTION REQUIRED Let your readers know what you need them to do: (Approval Needed), (Please RSVP), (Confirmation Required), etc. You can try this: [Invoice | Public Speaking Coaching for Managers | Jakarta, Jun-Aug 2019 (Please Review)].
- URGENT or IMPORTANT Avoid using only the word URGENT or IMPORTANT. This might work better: [URGENT: Invoice | Public Speaking Coaching for Managers | Jakarta, Jun-Aug 2019 (Please Review)]. Don’t overuse this as it can dilute your credibility (Remember the boy who cried wolf?).
There you go – three powerful tips to strengthen your Subject Lines. Try it out and let me know how it goes!
